The volume features fourteen architectural projects by Tabassum, who responds flexibly to the challenging issues in Bangladesh, such as natural disasters, socio-economic disparities, refugees, and rapid urbanization, and creates architecture for people. The book also includes a dialogue between Tabassum and Shigeru Ban, who both address social issues through architecture, as well as an essay by Momoyo Kaijima, a woman architect of the same generation and a personal friend of Tabassum.

A Bangladeshi architect and educator, Marina Tabassum founded Dhaka-based Marina Tabassum Architects in 2005. In her work, Tabassum seeks to establish a language of architecture that is contemporary yet reflectively rooted to place, always against an ecological rubric containing climate, context, culture, history. The portfolio of work notwithstanding, Tabassum's practice remains consciously contained in size, undertaking a limited number of projects per year.
